about this project
After Summit Steel Buildings was hired to manufacture and supply a 5,600 square foot metal facility for VMAC’s Nanaimo, B.C. location, they chose Double Black Construction as their preferred erector for the project. It is the second building VMAC has ordered to be constructed through the companies.
The 75’ x 75’ x 26’ structure rests upon a solid concrete foundation and the building’s interior is insulated with a waterproof lining for durability against the location’s hot and humid conditions.

Installed a pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) in Nanaimo, B.C. measuring 75' x 75' x 26'. The full project included a concrete pad foundation, reinforced with steel, erecting primary and secondary framing and installing the steel roofing and wall component systems. Both the roof and wall were insulated and lined with a waterproof lining barrier to protect the inside from the rainy environment. The building was completed between April 24, 2026 and May 22, 2026 by our small but skilled crew of tradespeople.
The steel structural system was provided by Summit Steel Buildings. Precision and accuracy of the build full exceeded their high standards for quality, safety and engineering compliance.
The finished metal building provides a durable, well-insulated and fully compliant structure tailored to VMAC’s need for a large inventory storage space. The steel framing provides low-maintenance durability and security against outside threats while the waterproof linings ensure long-term performance and safety for the materials stored inside.
