Manitoba First Nations Police Service Relocating to Waywayseecappo Community Centre in Brandon

Double Black Construction is proud to build the future headquarters of policing while commencing work on the community centre’s second phase.
Exciting progress continues to be revealed at the new Waywayseecappo community centre in the north end of Brandon, Manitoba. While the massive building project has not been a secret to the Double Black Construction team, what’s new is a public announcement that a new tenant has committed to long-term leasing space at the facility. The Manitoba First Nations Police Service
(MFNPS) will be moving out of its current headquarters in Portage la Prairie and into this First Nation-owned facility later this fall. The news was published in the Brandon Sun
in their February 5, 2025, edition.
“The big thing is space,” MFNPS Interim Chief Jason Colin says in the Brandon Sun
article. “We’ve outgrown the area we’re in right now, and so we need the appropriate office space for our service, which is continuing to grow certainly in the last couple of years.”
We appreciate the Brandon Sun
and their reporting team for covering the new occupancy as well as our Waywayseecappo capital project expansion. The police facilities will use a large portion of the first and sesamsuncond floors of the current structure that also hosts an event space and conference rooms. The new 25,000-square-foot addition will house the Waywayseecappo Child and Family Services offices and other commercial office space.
Our construction team has already received the pre-engineered steel building materials and are ready to start work this August. This second phase of the capital project is a further investment Waywayseecappo First Nation is making into their community.
The Double Black Construction team offers its appreciation to Chief Murray Clearsky for his vision and continued success in leading his community toward a prosperous future. Our team has been partnering with ADVA Marketing & Consulting (the project developer), Samson Engineering
and U-Build Steel Buildings over the last two years. Together, we are turning the architectural design into a popular destination for policing, community services and events that will stand testament to the community for decades to come.
